The California Department of
Forestry and Fire Protection, (CAL FIRE) provides fire
protection for the County of San Luis Obispo, the City of
Pismo Beach, the Avila Beach Community Services District and
the Los Osos Community Services District by cooperative
agreements. CAL FIRE and the County of San Luis Obispo have

and it is good for the personnel whose job it is to protect
the life and property of those citizens.
We at CAL FIRE / San Luis
Obispo County Fire are proud to serve our communities and
perform our mission.

LIVING AND BUILDING IN THE WILDLAND URBAN INTERFACE (WUI)
Recently adopted building codes and standards reduce the
risk of burning embers igniting buildings. Codes already in
effect place standards on roofing construction and attic
venting. The new building codes require siding, exterior
doors, decking, windows, eaves wall vents, and enclosed
overhanging decks to meet new test standards.
